About L R Provencher Earthworks

Every October the snow geese come down on the fields around Dead Creek by the thousands, and Addison's flat farmland turns into a restless white tide of wings. Below that sky, L R Provencher Earthworks takes care of lawns in Addison — the regular mow, the trim along fence and foundation, the edge along the drive — on yards that sit on the dense clay of the Champlain Valley. An earthworks outfit reads ground for a living: how this soil holds water through a wet spring and cracks open in an August dry spell, and how the turf above it answers. The reward is a yard that sits clean against the open fields, with a crisp seam at the gravel and nothing ragged along the fence. From the Chimney Point end of town to the farms along Route 17, a well-kept lawn is a quiet signature on the land.
