About Kenny's Tree & Crane (KLJ Inc)

Ice is Yorktown's real winter, and it announces itself in the pine woods out toward Lackey — loblolly limbs bending, then the crack, then the lights flickering. Kenny's Tree & Crane (KLJ Inc) turns out on those nights, plowing drives and lanes, breaking the frozen crust at the road apron, salting the steps and walks that go treacherous first. A long rural driveway under a quarter inch of glaze is its own puzzle: little room to windrow, sand where the grade climbs, hand work at the top. The crews go where the county trucks do not, and they go early. Come daylight the lane is open all the way to the mailbox and the day can start.
