About Brit N Sam

Spring reaches the Carroll County highlands late and then all at once — one week of sun and the pastures around Woodlawn shift from gray to green with the Blue Ridge standing behind them. Brit N Sam takes the season from there, mowing yards that roll with the land, trimming along fence rows and stone walls, clearing the drive before pulling out. Up on this plateau the summers stay cool and the grass keeps going after the lowlands quit, which stretches the mowing calendar on both ends. A hillside yard, cut level under all that open sky, holds the eye. Around Woodlawn, Hillsville and Galax, that is the work.
