About Arbor Doc's Virginia Inc.

Winter at Smith Mountain Lake keeps its own weather: wind off open water, a squall line hooking around the mountain, snow that finds the coves before it finds the highway. Arbor Doc's Virginia Inc. works Wirtz through those nights and the mornings that follow — plowing driveways, opening the turnarounds and walkways that lake houses hide at the end of long wooded lanes. Half the drives around here drop toward the shore at an angle that turns interesting the moment it freezes, so clearing them properly matters more than clearing them fast. Getting a lake lane passable before it sees its first car is reason enough to be awake in the dark.
