About Reading Landscapes Inc.

North of town the ground rises to the old earthworks at Star Fort, and the wind coming over that rise in January has nothing at all to slow it down. Reading Landscapes Inc. reads those nights the way farmers read sky — when the temperature will break, when drizzle will glaze, when to roll. Plowing, shoveling and salting across Winchester: drives opened, walks cut clean down to the concrete, ice treated before it can grip. Snow blown back into a drive is part of the bargain up here, so the return trip matters as much as the first. Nothing about it is glamorous, and every bit of it is welcome by morning.
