Virginia Grounds

About Virginia Grounds

Snow settles into the old earthworks off Quarterpath Road and makes the ridges show, the way frost does across a plowed field. Virginia Grounds is out in it — plowing driveways and lots, cutting walkways down to pavement, treating the slick corners that hold ice long after the road itself has cleared. Winters on this part of the peninsula are brief and awkward, half snow and half freezing rain, and they call for a fast response more than a large one. A cleared drive at first light is the entire deliverable. After that the town gets its snow day and the crew finally gets some sleep.
