Snow Companies

About Snow Companies

Four in the morning on Monticello Avenue, and the New Town lots are empty except for one plow working corner to corner. Snow Companies clears that kind of ground — parking areas pushed and stacked, entrances opened, sidewalks shoveled and treated before the first employee turns in off the road. Williamsburg gets very few of these nights, so the ones it does get have to be met in full, from the first inch through the refreeze at dusk. Drives and walks at homes get the same handling: plowed, cleared to the step, salted where the ice keeps coming back. By sunrise the town looks like it has decided to open after all.
