Coastal Cuts

About Coastal Cuts

White Stone sits where the Rappahannock loosens its grip and hands itself over to the Chesapeake, and the light here arrives twice — once from the sky, once off the water. Coastal Cuts works that ground: yards mown down to a clean line where the lawn gives way to marsh, edges cut crisp against oyster-shell drives. Summer on the Northern Neck is loblolly shade and salt in the air, and a well-cut yard holds its stripes long into the evening. When a hard winter reaches this far down the peninsula, the same truck turns to plowing drives and shoveling walks before the sky over the bay has decided on a color. It is a small thing to open a path to the mailbox on a January morning, and it is also everything.
