About J.R. Landscaping

A hard January morning at the Lynnhaven is a particular thing — steel-colored water under the Lesner Bridge, the boat slips empty, and a glaze on every windshield in the neighborhood. Virginia Beach does not get many of those, which is exactly why the city stops when one arrives. J.R. Landscaping runs the winter side of the calendar here: plows for driveways and lots, shovels for the walk to the door, and de-icer worked across the slick spots where the sun will not reach until noon. The work happens while it is still dark and mostly goes unwitnessed. The measure of it is a clear apron of pavement and a household that gets where it was going.
