About AquaTurf

Below Vinton the Roanoke River slides over Niagara Dam and keeps moving even in January, steaming a little on the coldest mornings while the banks go white. AquaTurf reads winter the way this valley delivers it — a few inches of upslope snow one week, a hard glaze the next. The work is plowing and shoveling driveways, walks and lots, then salting and sanding whatever the sun will not reach before noon. Water is the constant in both halves of the calendar; in winter it simply arrives sideways and stays. A drive scraped clean before anyone has to leave for work is the whole point.
