Turf Professors

About Turf Professors

Tuckahoe sits in the transition zone, that band of the map where the cool-season grasses of the north and the warm-season grasses of the south both try to make a go of it. Turf Professors works with that reality along John Rolfe Parkway and through the streets around it — mowing at the height the calendar calls for, trimming edges tight, clearing the leaves that would smother a lawn come October. Cutting an inch too low in August and an inch too high in November are different mistakes with the same ending. Paying attention to the season is most of the craft, and the yard shows whether anyone did. By the time the cold settles in, the turf is even, open and ready to sit the winter out.
