West of Tuckahoe the lots stretch out and the driveways get long, gravel curving a few hundred feet back toward the trees before a house ever comes into view. SS Grading works those in winter — plowing the full run, pushing snow into banks that will not wash back across the surface, and opening turnarounds wide enough to actually use. Virginia snow tends to fall wet and then freeze into ruts overnight, which is hard on a gravel drive if it is cleared carelessly.
