The Cascades streets tilt down toward the Potomac, and after a storm every one of those slopes is a decision. Howard Landscapes plows them anyway — driveways taken to the pavement, walks cut through to the front step, entrances treated where ice wants to hold. Snow here can start as rain and finish as powder in one night, which changes how it moves and where it stacks. The deadline is the school bus, and the school bus never slides. There is a real satisfaction in seeing a hill full of open driveways at 6:30 with the sky still dark.
