Owner On-Site Services (O2S2) is out on them early — shoveling walks and entryways, clearing small lots and driveways, spreading salt where old brick and stone stay slick long after the street itself has gone black. The owner is on the job, which means the person who answers the phone is the same one reading the sky and deciding when to come back for a second pass. Downtown Staunton's grades are unforgiving, and the aim is a doorway somebody can reach without watching their feet the whole way.
