Yard Valet

About Yard Valet

Four in the morning on Leavells Road, the snow still coming down, and the only tracks on the street are the ones the truck just made. Yard Valet works the hours before anyone is awake — plowing driveways, clearing walkways and steps, spreading salt where the north side of a house will hold ice all day. Spotsylvania Courthouse does not get a hundred inches, but it gets the awkward kind: wet, heavy, quick to freeze into ruts if it is left alone. Arriving early is most of the trick, and coming back through is the rest of it. By breakfast the drive is open, the walk is clean, and the day can start on schedule.
