About Venable's Landscaping

On a summer Saturday you can hear the Speedway from a good way off, that steady rise and fall that tells everybody in South Boston what night it is. Venable's Landscaping has usually wrapped up by then, the day's yards mowed and edged and the mulch beds squared away across Halifax County. Red clay and Piedmont sun are a hard pair on a lawn, so the work leans on cutting height, close trimming and keeping the leaves from smothering anything come fall. Straight lines across a sloped yard take some doing and are worth the trouble every time. When the engines wind down and the town goes quiet, the grass out there is standing exactly right.
