Opies Tree Service.

About Opies Tree Service.

January in Smithfield is low tide and low light — the Pagan River flat as tin, the Windsor Castle boardwalk empty, marsh grass the color of old rope. Opies Tree Service takes to the bare season for what it makes possible: pruning with the whole structure of a tree in plain sight, trimming crowns back from the brick and clapboard of Old Town, removing a limb-heavy hardwood before the wind finds it first. Storm damage cleanup on this side of the river is a fact of life, and it ends the way it should — debris out, ground raked, nothing left leaning. Working above an old roof means small pieces, good rope and no hurry. Come April those same trees leaf out and nobody can tell anyone was ever up there.
