The ground around Rockwood is red clay and old Chesterfield pine, and it swings hard between an April that grows an inch a day and a January that shuts the whole county down. Mountain Vision Enterprises works both ends of that — mowing, edging, string trimming and seasonal cleanups through the green months, then plowing driveways, clearing walks and treating ice once the cold sets in. Down near Falling Creek the frost holds well past sunrise, and that decides when the mower starts and when the plow does.
