Slate Enterprise

About Slate Enterprise

Some November afternoons the sky over the Catawba Valley goes the exact color of slate, and you can feel the year changing gears. Slate Enterprise works both sides of that change — mowing, trimming and cleanups while the grass still asks for it, then plowing, shoveling and salting once weather comes over the ridge below McAfee Knob. Storms out of the northwest strike that side of the county first and heaviest, so the drive out there starts earlier than most. There is real pride in a lot that is black and wet at daybreak while everything around it is white. And come April, on the same ground, the first cut of the season.
