About Ground Up Inc

Every new lot in this county starts out as red clay, and clay does not become a lawn by accident. Ground Up Inc works the ground north toward Cloverdale and Daleville — grading a yard smooth, seeding in the cool of early fall, keeping water and foot traffic off it until the green comes through. After that it turns into ordinary upkeep: weekly mowing, trimming, edging, mulch in the new beds, aeration and overseeding to thicken whatever took. Autumn is the honest season for seed here, when the nights cool off and the rain comes back. Watching bare clay become something you can walk barefoot across never really gets old.
