About C. S. Flournoy Inc.

An office park at four in the morning after a snowfall is one of the emptiest places in Virginia — acres of white, a few sodium lamps, and no tracks anywhere. That is C. S. Flournoy Inc.'s hour out around Innsbrook and the west end, pushing lots clean, stacking the piles where they will not block sightlines, clearing the walks from door to curb, and putting salt down ahead of the refreeze. The measure of the night is the first car in at seven finding a lot that looks like nothing happened. Winter in Richmond hands out these storms rarely and without much warning, so the readiness matters as much as the plowing. Getting a place open on time is the entire job.
