Great Falls Plowing

About Great Falls Plowing

The hard part of a Virginia storm is often its back end, when the afternoon melt runs across pavement and the temperature drops straight through it after dark. Great Falls Plowing works Reston through that second act — pushing back the banks, reopening the aprons the county trucks close in, treating the slick that forms at the foot of every sloped drive. Winter here is not constant, so when it comes it comes all at once, and the work gets measured in hours rather than weeks. There is a particular pleasure in a swept walk at nine at night, salt crunching underfoot, everything back under control. Come morning nobody has to think about it.
