Lawns By Brad

About Lawns By Brad

Providence Forge takes its name from an old ironworks on the Chickahominy, and the river still sets the tone here — slow brown water, cypress knees, morning mist hanging in the bottoms until the sun burns it off Route 60. Lawns By Brad mows and tends the yards of that New Kent country, from village lots to the long approaches of houses set back among the pines. The first cut after a wet stretch is the one to look forward to: the grass has jumped, and the mower lays it down in even bands with the edges cut sharp along drive and walk. Bed lines get defined, the trimmer follows the fence and the mailbox post, and the blower sends the last of it back onto the lawn where it belongs. Come fall the leaves arrive all at once off the hardwoods, and the work turns to clearing them before frost mats them down.
