About D. Vauter Tree and Stump Service, Inc.

East of the city the land flattens out toward Varina, where fields run to the treeline and the wind has room to move. D. Vauter Tree and Stump Service, Inc. answers the winter calls out this way, when freezing rain beads on every branch and the back roads turn to glass before anyone is awake. Plowing here means long driveways, gravel aprons and gateposts you have to know by heart in the dark. Salt and shovel work follows at the walkways, so the trip from door to truck is plain footing again. Snow in this part of Virginia rarely stays long — but the hours it does stay are the hours that matter, and those are the ones that get covered.
