True Gen Tree Service

About True Gen Tree Service

In November the Lafayette River goes pewter, the Larchmont pines drop their needles, and the hardwoods finally show their bones — which is when a tree tells you the truth about itself. True Gen Tree Service does its looking then: pruning out the crossed and the broken, trimming crowns back from a roofline, removing a trunk that has hollowed at the base and begun to lean toward the porch. Storm damage cleanup runs on Norfolk's own calendar, and it ends the plain way — everything down, everything out, until the yard is a yard again. Cold-weather work has its own rhythm: breath in the air, sawdust bright against the frost, a clean cut left to heal over. Across the water the Botanical Garden keeps its collection; over here, one street at a time, the city's ordinary trees get the same attention.
