About Gardens by Oz

On Freemason Street the cobbles are the originals and the gardens are small, walled, and older than nearly everything around them. Gardens by Oz works at that scale — hand-trimmed edges, mowing in courtyards no large machine has any business entering, a true line where lawn meets brick. There is a particular pleasure in a tiny green square kept perfectly while downtown carries on just past the wall. Every pass has to be deliberate, because in a space that size everything is visible at once. Norfolk has its grand landscapes; these are the intimate ones, and they deserve the same attention.
