About Capital City Services

Mechanicsville sits close enough to Richmond that a bad night of snow becomes a traffic problem by six in the morning. Capital City Services works the hours before that — plowing lots and driveways, cutting a path down the walk, laying salt where the melt will refreeze in the low spots. Central Virginia snow tends to fall wet and heavy, with a fast thaw behind it, so timing matters more than depth. Getting a lot bare and black before the first car turns in is the whole of the craft. Then the trucks roll to the next one, headlights still burning, the county waking up slowly behind them.
