Reed Creek winds through Max Meadows toward the New River, and Wythe County pasture rolls up from it in long green swells that stay green well past the point where the lowlands have gone brown. Grass Masters mows in that upland climate, where the summers run a few degrees kinder and the grass keeps growing into October. Blades are kept sharp so a cut is a cut and not a tear — you can still see the difference from across a yard three days later. Trimming works the fence posts, the well head and the mailbox, and the walks are blown clean at the end. Late in the year the leaves come off the lawn and the property goes quiet for winter.
