About Paul Shively Inc

The ground rises northwest of Martinsville toward Philpott, and what melts in town by noon can lie all day up there in the shade of the ridges. Paul Shively Inc plows and clears through those nights and mornings, taking on driveways, private lanes, parking areas and walkways, with salt and sand where ice sets in. Winter storms this far south are unpredictable: three inches one year, an inch of glaze the next, and either one closes a road just as thoroughly. The answer is being awake at two in the morning when it begins. There is a clean feeling to a drive opened before anybody else is up, plow lines still perfect under the yard light.
