About Akers Lawn Services

Piedmont clay runs red under Martinsville, and it grows a stubborn kind of grass — thick where it is fed, thin where the sun bakes it, always ready to test a blade. Akers Lawn Services takes it on through the long southern summer: mowing on schedule, trimming fence lines and mailbox posts, edging the concrete, sweeping the clippings off the walk. July afternoons come heavy up here, so the work starts early and the mowers are loaded before the heat turns mean. The reward is the walk back to the truck, with the yard laid out in clean bands and the edges tight and the smell of cut grass hanging in still air. Straightforward work, kept up week after week.
