White Oak Landworks

About White Oak Landworks

Between Lyndhurst and the mountain the ground rises in orchard rows and old fence lines, and by September the whole eastern edge of Augusta County smells of cut grass and windfall apples. White Oak Landworks takes the landscape at the scale it comes in — a half-acre yard here, a farm lane shoulder there, a lawn wrapped around a barn foundation. Mowing patterns are alternated so the turf never leans one way all summer. Trimming closes out the corners a deck can't reach, around stone piles, gate posts and the base of every shade tree. When the leaves come down here they come all at once, and the work runs until the ground is bare and even again.
