About Gardening Gays Farm

Out toward Sealston the land opens into hay and soybean, and a farm learns quickly that ground responds to attention or it does not respond at all. Gardening Gays Farm carries that habit into lawn work around King George — mowing, trimming, edging, and the bed and border tidying that keeps a yard from going shaggy at the corners. High summer here is loud with cicadas and heat lightning off toward the Rappahannock, so the cutting happens at the cooler ends of the day. A lawn is a small field, really, and it wants to be read before it is cut. What the neighbors see is a yard that looks tended rather than merely shortened, and that difference holds all week.
