Scooper Doody

About Scooper Doody

Out Little Back River Road the marsh runs to the horizon in bleached gold, and once in a while a winter morning arrives with snow laid over all of it. Scooper Doody works those days in Hampton, plowing driveways, opening walkways, shoveling the steps and salting the shaded stretches where ice quietly outlasts the sun. Snow beside the Chesapeake is heavy and wet and usually gone by the next afternoon, so everything depends on getting to it early. A cleared drive on a morning like that is the difference between a normal day and a lost one. The marsh keeps the view; the pavement gets the shovel.
