About Darnell Landscaping Inc

The lots out around the Hampton Coliseum are wide and lit all night, and on the rare occasion snow reaches this stretch of Virginia they become one long white field under sodium light. Darnell Landscaping Inc works those hours: plowing, opening lanes and entrances, shoveling walkways down to bare pavement, salting where meltwater will lock up again once the temperature drops. Snow does not linger on the peninsula, but it does not need to — one untouched storm can take a whole morning away from a neighborhood. There is a real satisfaction in standing at the end of a cleared row before the first car turns in, streetlights running down wet blacktop where the drift used to be. Hampton asks for this only now and then, which is precisely why it has to be right.
