About Jerry Epps Landscape Co

There is a hush on the courthouse square in Halifax early on, before the brick warms and the town gets going. Jerry Epps Landscape Co is usually already out in it — mowers off the trailer, string trimmer running the fence lines, beds cleaned up so the green reads sharp against red Piedmont clay. Come January the same trucks carry blades and shovels, and the lanes out toward the tobacco barns get cleared while the sky is still the color of slate. Snow here is brief and stubborn at once, which is exactly why somebody has to be up for it. Every yard finished is a small argument that a place looks after itself.
