Route 17 north of the Coleman Bridge is the county's spine, and when freezing drizzle sets in overnight everything hanging off it has to be opened by morning: driveways, side lanes, parking aprons. J & Z Hauling LLC runs those hours, plowing, clearing walkways and treating the ice that always forms in the same places first. Snow does not visit Gloucester often, so when it does the whole day depends on who is already moving. They push it back, haul it off where it cannot stay, and leave enough room to turn a vehicle around. Quiet work done in the dark, noticed only in that everything ran on time.
