Beaverdam Park holds a long reach of freshwater back behind Gloucester, all hardwood shoreline and heron-quiet coves, and by November the oaks along it are letting go all at once. That is leaf season for Ronnie's Landscaping & Lawn Service, the tail end of a mowing year that opens in March and does not quit until the ground goes cold — cutting, edging, trimming, raking a yard back down to bare green. Then the calendar flips and the county waits to see what winter intends. If it means anything at all, the plow goes out: drives cleared, walks shoveled, the ice broken up at the steps.
