About A1A, Inc.

Past the north end of town, Route 522 runs wide open toward Cedarville, and once a storm settles over the valley there is nothing out there to slow the wind down. A1A, Inc. works those hours, plowing driveways and lots, cutting walks and steps back to bare pavement, and laying salt and ice melt on the glaze that forms in the small hours. A Warren County storm gets watched from the first flake to the last, then watched again the next morning when meltwater refreezes at the foot of every slope. The measure of a night is simple: headlights swinging out of a cleared drive at six while the fields are still untouched white. Winter here doesn't stop anyone who has a plow coming.
