Commercial ground has to work in any weather: trucks in and out at daybreak, dock aprons, employee rows, a gate that cannot be blocked by a pile of snow. GFL Environmental takes that side of a Fredericksburg winter, plowing lots and lanes, clearing walks, treating the runs where drainage crosses pavement. Snow around here is often wet and dense, more shovel than sweep, and it drifts heaviest in the lee of a building. Piles get placed where they will not flood a lane on the way out, because a February thaw refreezes by dark. The work is finished when a site opens on time and nobody there has to give the storm a second thought.
