About Classic Stonescaping & Gardens

February on the meadow behind the Cherry Hill farmhouse is the quietest Falls Church ever gets: bare sycamores, frozen grass, and light the color of skim milk until about four o'clock. Classic Stonescaping & Gardens spends that season on the other side of the fence, clearing driveways, walks and lots so people can get out of their own houses. Ice is the real adversary in this city, not depth — a quarter inch of glaze on a sloped drive off Park Avenue will stop a car cold. So the crew plows, shovels the steps and stoops by hand, and treats the surfaces before the refreeze sets in overnight. A clear walk on a gray morning is a small kindness, and it is one worth doing well.
