About Rockingham Land Management

Winter arrives in Rockingham County from the northwest, spilling over the Alleghenies and settling on the farm roads before it ever touches downtown. Rockingham Land Management keeps the hours nobody else wants — plowing driveways and lots while Route 11 is still a single set of taillights, shoveling walks, spreading de-icer on the shaded corners where ice hides long after the sun is up. A cleared drive at five in the morning is a small, unglamorous gift: someone gets to work, someone gets to school, nobody falls. Storms get watched from the first forecast to the last flake, and seasonal contracts mean the truck is already moving when the phone would otherwise be ringing. Harrisonburg, Dayton, Bridgewater, Broadway — pavement black and quiet again by breakfast.
