Old Dominion Chimneys

About Old Dominion Chimneys

On a hard, clear January night in Elkton the woodsmoke goes straight up and the stars come out sharp over the Blue Ridge, and by morning there is snow packed on every drive in town. This is snow removal for those mornings — plowing driveways and lots, shoveling front walks and steps, opening space around doorways, and putting salt where the shade never lets the pavement dry. Cold settles onto the valley floor and stays, so what melts at noon is a sheet of glass by five in the afternoon. The work gets done early and gets done all the way through for exactly that reason. A house should be easy to leave and easy to come home to, whatever fell overnight.
