About Blue Mountain Arbor

When a storm comes over the Blue Ridge at night, Elkton hears it first as wind working through the hollows and then as snow going sideways under the streetlights. That is the hour this snow removal begins: plowing driveways, opening private lanes, shoveling steps and walks, and spreading salt where ice means to set up hard by morning. Massanutten's long ridge to the northwest turns white and stays white for days, and the town underneath it still has to get to work. There is real pride in pulling into a place at four in the morning and leaving it passable before anyone has looked out a window. Nobody sees the doing of it — they only see the clear drive.
