RW Stump Grinding

About RW Stump Grinding

By October the hardwoods above the James at Dutch Gap turn all at once, and the tidal marsh below them goes the color of a copper penny. RW Stump Grinding keeps to the ground work around Chester — tree removal, stump grinding and tree trimming — and the middle one is the thing nobody thinks about until a stump is all that is left of a tree. Grinding is patient: pass, drop the wheel, pass again, until the root flare is down far enough that grass will take and a mower will never find it. Removals get planned backward from where the trunk needs to land, whether that is a tight lot off Centralia Road or an open acre out toward Enon. Chester, Chesterfield Court House, Bermuda Hundred and Colonial Heights — sandy ground with old trees in it, and plenty of stumps still waiting.
