Tidewater Waterworks

About Tidewater Waterworks

Tidewater lies so flat that the ditches do the work rivers do elsewhere, and along the Intracoastal marsh the wind arrives with nothing in its way. Tidewater Waterworks handles the winter side of that geography — plowing driveways and lots, clearing walks and entries, and treating ice where brackish damp and a dropping thermometer meet overnight. Salt air keeps most storms wet here, so the trouble is usually a hard glaze at first light rather than a foot of powder. Reading the thermometer against the tide is half of knowing when to roll out. The other half is being on the pavement before the first person is.
