About Chesapeake Bay Tree, Inc.

Winter on the Southern Branch is all grays — the water, the sky, the shipyard cranes standing over in Portsmouth, the Gilmerton Bridge going up for a tug that doesn't care what the weather is doing. Chesapeake Bay Tree, Inc. runs snow work on this side of the river: plowing lots and driveways, clearing walkways down to bare surface, laying salt where wind off the water keeps things frozen. Snow in Hampton Roads tends to come once, come hard, and be gone in two days, so the whole job lives inside a very short window. Being out at four in the morning is most of the trick. The satisfaction is pulling away from a property with the pavement dark and the piles set where they won't melt back across the drive.
