About About Trees

Cedar Run winds past Catlett between banks of sycamore, and after a winter storm their pale limbs stand out white against white, the creek running dark and quick beneath a rim of ice. About Trees is a tree business, and when snow falls on this corner of Fauquier County it turns to snow removal, opening up driveways and footpaths before the day gets moving. The work starts early, in the blue half-light before sunrise, when the snow is still unbroken and the only tracks belong to deer. A cleared driveway at that hour looks like a path cut through a hushed world. By the time sunlight reaches the creek bottom, the route to the road is open.
