The Yard Doctors

About The Yard Doctors

Cana sits at the foot of the Blue Ridge escarpment, close enough to the state line that mountain weather and Piedmont warmth trade places all spring. The Yard Doctors work the yards along Crooked Creek and up the grades toward Fancy Gap — mowing, trimming, edging, tidying beds and clearing leaves once the hardwoods above turn loose. Carroll County ground runs rocky and uneven in places, so a smooth finish takes a careful pass rather than a fast one. It is a good feeling to leave a lawn looking even from the road when the land beneath it is anything but. By evening the ridge line goes purple and the fresh cut smells like the best part of the year.
