Lawn Enforcement

About Lawn Enforcement

In Buchanan the James runs right past the end of Main Street, and the swinging footbridge sways a little whenever somebody crosses. Lawn Enforcement cuts the yards that climb from the river toward Purgatory Mountain, where slope and stone keep every lawn a little different from the last. Mowing, trimming, edging, bed tidying, leaf cleanup — the list is short, and the doing of it is what shows. Grass in the Botetourt bottomland comes on strong after a warm rain, and holding the schedule is how a yard keeps its shape all summer. On a clear evening the mountain shadow crosses town first, and the fresh-cut lines hold the last of the light.
