About Advanced Maintenance Services, Inc.

US 220 leaves Boones Mill and climbs the mountain in a long grade that ices over before anything else in Franklin County does. When a storm settles across the Blue Ridge overnight, the town wakes to white roofs and a hush, and somebody has already been working since three in the morning. Advanced Maintenance Services, Inc. does the snow work here — plowing driveways and lots, shoveling walks and steps, spreading ice melt where shade keeps a surface slick all day. The whole point of the job is that nobody has to think about it: the car backs out, the door opens onto bare concrete, the morning proceeds. Boones Mill and the communities around it get cleared while the mountain is still dark.
